Flow
2019
Digital video with sound
Flow explores hidden layers of information in bodies of water. Using the field recordings as source material, certain frequencies are boosted to create voices from the water. The video is also scored with traditional composition techniques to mimic nature documentary style, while remaining firmly rooted in ambient sound. Available for exhibition.

Construct/Deconstruct

Performance, digital video with sound
Construct/Deconstruct explores issues of equality in the workplace. Two coworkers perform this piece to explore the range of ideas possible in construction and deconstruction. The voice is used to express emotion while the building blocks set up a construct to formulate our performance around. White walls surround a black block painted with conductive ink to create a MIDI controller. The scales and instruments are interpreted using custom software.
Music made using the capacitive touch sensing giant lego blocks, Max MSP, and Ableton Live. Sound, programming, and performance by Matt Nolan with additional performance by Boris Willis for the Electro Acoustic Barn Dance 2015, Fredericksburg, VA.
