This series reflects on the suicide of David Buckel. It explores the literal underpinnings of the petro-protest self-immolation through research on petrochemical disasters during his life that may have contributed to his mindset. It also explores institutional self-immolation through the lens, imagery, and example of The National Museum of Brazil fire. Luzia, who was lost in the fire, acts as a grounding force for this electrifying work that crosses multiple artistic disciplines. The show premiered in September 2018 as a solo exhibition at The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. This show is currently available for exhibit.
